Science Lates: The “artificial” brain of stem cell research

Human Brain Organoids: A Future Technology as a Beacon of Hope?

The mustard seed-sized tissue culture models, which were derived from stem cells, offered new approaches to disease research, diagnostics, and therapy. These miniature models bore an extraordinary resemblance to the human brain. The Erlangen event “Science Lates – The ‘Artificial’ Brain of Stem Cell Research” warmly invited attendees to delve into stem cell research. Additionally, the potential connection between these brain organoids and the gut-brain axis was highlighted as a promising area of exploration, offering insights into how the gut microbiome might influence brain health and disease.
