Dr. Pooja Gupta Receives BMFTR Funding for AIPREDICT Project!

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Pooja Gupta, PI of theZ01 project, has been awarded funding by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) under the ‘Zukunft eHealth’ funding initiative for her project AIDriven Multimodal Data Integration for Predicting IBDPD Comorbidity Progression (AI–PREDICT, Förderkennzeichen: 01ZU2502).

Based at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, the project will receive approximately €2.0 million in funding over the period 2026–2031. AI–PREDICT aims to develop artificial intelligence–based approaches for multimodal data integration to elucidate and predict the progression of comorbidity between chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD). By integrating international cohorts and local clinical data alongside datasets from CRU 5024, the project will identify shared molecular networks, biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets underlying IBD–PD comorbidity. In parallel, it will define biologically meaningful patient subgroups and refine understanding of individual disease trajectories. Ultimately, AI–PREDICT seeks to advance precision medicine by facilitating earlier diagnosis and more targeted therapeutic interventions for patients affected by IBD and PD.

Congratulations, Dr. Pooja Gupta, on this outstanding achievement!
